In a peaceful town called Bright Hope a group of cannibalistic troglodytes kidnap few habitants, sheriff Hunt (wonderfully performed by Kurt Russell) and a little of group of people start a rescue hunt in the mountains where the troglodytes live, to rescue the kidnapped. The story is pretty simple but it is also extremely effective from the beginning. Beautiful scenarios and great acting are giving to this western movie a combination that works under all aspects, S. Craig Zahler’s “Bone Tomahawk” is a 2 hours and 12 minutes of stunning cinema, with a fantastic performance by the leading actor Kurt Russell who made in 2015 two great western, including also Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” and by Patrick Wilson who you may have seen in the “Insidious” and “The Conjuring” movies. Bone Tomahawk also involves some gory scenes, not too many but the ones that are present are pretty nasty and mean, highly recommended to anyone, in particular to those who love western and horror films, a strange combination that works so well in this fantastic feature that has no flaws, it may be a bit slow in the build up of the story but it’s definitely worthy, a seriously great western.
